It is the sense off smell that transports me. What limes are to Mexico, lemons are to Italy. Yesterday, even though I’m back in Nayarit speaking Spanish, when the produce manager at Mega in Bucerias brought out a box of lemons, I was back in the Cinqueterre, That’s where most of these shots were taken, but I ran across lemons through the whole trip around the eastern Mediterranean. Lemon was my favorite flavor of gelato in Florence. I squeezed lemons on stuffed mussels in Monterossa, and I admired the beautiful bottles of lemoncello in Venice shops. Yes, it does taste like liquid sunshine. Check out how my friend Marilyn makes it.

Brioche, Capuccino and Florence
OK, I’ve finally settled in and will start sharing a little more than just those e-cards from the last two posts. Nibbles at first as the memories come back. Like early morning breakfast all to myself on a cloudy day in Florence. I sat in the open air cafe right below the Piazzale Michelangelo for at least an hour. Thought of friends, sisters, and gave thanks I had finally come back to this place.

It was a dark and stormy night…
Well, there was lightening, way up in the sky. And today the clouds are “lowering.” I never was sure how to pronounce that, but you get the idea. Getting ready to put on my sea legs. We sail at four this afternoon. May be a few days before I wear those really hot stilettos I I had on last night. What was I thinking when I bought them? What can I say? It was Marsahall’s, it’s Miami , and the price was ridiculously low. And when I put them on in the store, three women and two guys said, “yes!” Does that kind of saying Yes count? Hmmmmm. I don’ think so.
Ok, been trying to figure out how to post a photo from iPad. I think I got this backwards. Yours, ever learning.
The Other Ocean
it’s morning on the Atlantic. I’m testing posting by email high above the palms and lagoons of Sunny Isles, Florida. George and Virginia picked us up last night, drove us through South Beach on the way home. We saw ‘The Rock’ (also known as the tooth fairy) on the middle of filming a new movie. Pool time calling!
